This fall seems to be a little different, not as many boils and tons of biggish shad. Since I couldn’t chase boils or get the deeper fish to eat spoons very well, I started throwing a large top water (saltwater super spook xt) and a whopper plopper (110) around shallow points and in shallow coves , I noticed stripers acting more like ambush predators than they usually do , also plenty of decent smallmouth and largemouth will crush these baits right now. I guess if you all are having trouble catching fish the way you are used to in the fall, upsize your tackle a bit and go searching . Use the wind as your friend as well , fishing wind blown points and coves. Remember to size up your gear accordingly as well . You can throw topwaters on heavy braid and the fish won’t care even in clear LP water (I use 30-50lb power pro slick 8 in hi vis yellow) any way hope this helps somebody catch some fish ! Thanks Wayne for organizing such a great site and for keeping the stoke factor high!
Cheers

Also a side note it doesn’t need to be morning or evening , stripers and bass were hitting crushing topwaters all day even under high skies in the afternoon. I fact the best bite was in The heat of the day , just be sure to keep your boat In Deeper water and make long bomb casts so you don’t spook fish ( were braid cones in handy , no stretch for pinning fish at the end of a 200 ft cast ! )
