So, yesterday I decided to "walk the cut" I wanted to see first hand what it was like. I found several interesting items from ladders to toy trucks, towels and lots of beer cans but no fishing rods. I can only imagine the number of vessels that have passed through there since it was excavated.
Here are a few photos. 20190323_104212.jpg20190323_105333.jpg20190323_103900.jpg20190323_093339.jpg20190323_100552.jpg
This is me anxiously waiting for 3583

Oh I did manage to catch 12 nice stripers trolling in 18 feet of water by Lone Rock. All were very healthy.

Reed, thanks for posting these photos. I'll be down next weekend and am planning to walk the cut myself. Let the runoff begin and get that flooded!

RE the garbage comment, I used to think all of the garbage found on the beaches was from horrible boaters who just left it behind. Not that this doesn't happen (recall my Poop Beach experience), but my thought after intentionally observing for a few years is that most of the garbage gets blown off boats during wind storms. It doesn't take much wind to blow empty plastic water bottles overboard. And I know for a fact that a big wind can clear off an entire second deck of a houseboat - towels, cans, plastic, swimsuits. Not an excuse as this is preventable, but it does make me feel better - and channel my REAL anger to those who intentionally leave trash all over the lake.

hopefully we don't have to see the cut that low anymore. Have never seen the lake this low am very sad to see those pics as I have been through the cut a lot .

Your anger and all of ours as well. I HATE Trashers and will speak up. I'm old, I don't care about the consequences. I doubt one wwer would be silent if we see our lake trashed.

Did you find my cell phone? I lost one in there about 4 years ago when I went to take off my hoodie and it flung out of my pocket into the cut. That was frustrating!
No I did not. From the look of the other items I found it is probably way under the mud. I found that most items were covered with dirt or mud. However there was still up to 8 inches of water in several sections. So still hope perhaps. :)

Reed--

These pics are money. Beautiful. Kinda sad. Still hopeful for a big fill up. Thanks a ton for posting. And lets' hope none of the Drainers are trolling this site to use your pics as evidence of the lack of sustainability of this lovely place. I just checked the SWE, and it looks superb!
