Launched out of Wahwheap on 9/20 and headed to Bulffrog for a night at the lodge, then to meet up with Rivergoer and his crew for annual guys trip. Hit some striper in Cha on the way up and scratched a couple or in the Rincon before checking into an overnight slip at Bullfrog.

Got on the water the next morning for some sight seeing and tried to hike up to the ruins in forgotten. It's a long ways back there at this water level and we gave up and headed back to the boat after thinking our water wouldn't last the round trip.

Gassed up again at Bullfrog, then headed down to meet the group. Got a couple walleye, one decent sized, at rocks just north of Rincon area... fire craw jointed shad raps for both of them. Also caught and released some smallies and a couple stray stripers.

Hit the San Juan the next morning and fish ate stacked up in 40-60 feet pretty much throughout Cha. We couldn't get any on troll, nor did they come up top while we were there, but jigging slab spoons was getting it done until wind started pushing us around.

Hit Cha again the next day and got tired of jigging and taking fish... easily 100 plus, all in varied size and health. A lot of skinny fish, but some good healthy ones mixed in. The secret spoon, was on old chartreuse slab, that the school wouldn't let drop through without a hit. I could cast and wait for line to stop going out, knowing that I already had one on - it got kind of ridiculous. The bigger fish were at the deeper end of the school, but that doesn't matter if you can't get it to fall through them quick enough.

Also caught some nice cats off the back of the houseboat this trip. One of the guys got one that went 10lbs 6oz. I got one that checked in at 6lbs 3oz.

Overall, good trip, but no topwater action for us. We did see some guys at the ramp back at Wahweap who said the San Juan blew up with boils right at dark for them, so maybe the key is a little more time on the water (hint, that's always the key! )

Still out here havin’ fun. This morning we hit the north/east side of SJ confluence. Lots of SMB, got a bonus walleye and a nice 3.6 LMBIMG_9054.jpeg

Some striper and SMB caught this week along the main channel south side rockfall near 59-60. IMG_9046.jpeg

Camped near mm 63. Water temps cooling with the recent storms, 74-76F avg. Last couple of days we’ve had wind as storms passed through with a couple of hours steady rain overnight.

I'm a rookie at this Big lake thing. I was wondering how much fuel you have to haul to get to Bullfrog from the south end in a HB? I thought it wasn't possible with Dangling rope gone.

The Navigator HB carries 230 gals to run a pair of very fuel efficient 60 hp outboards, more than enough to make Wahweap to Bullfrog and back. Now, if you’re running the generator, that cuts into your range.

With 3 boats and a PWC, we brought lots of extra fuel to do a mid-lake week. The unplanned stop in Bullfrog also gave us a chance to get extra fuel mid-trip.

I'm in the same situation, and was wanting to run from Bullfrog to Wahweap this winter, and spend the night in Page. We are on an 1895 Lund with Suzuki 140, and it's pretty dang efficient, but haven't tackled a trip that big yet. We've got a 40 gallon tank so I was going to take a couple extra cans just in case.

Remember, going North to South you have the added advantage of Antelope Point Marina as a backup fuel stop if you’re running low. It’s about 10 miles closer than Wahweap. Good luck!😎

And if you need a ride into town, hit the bar at Wahweap resort, they’ll give you the number for a Page cab service.
