Launched at Stateline early on Thursday 18th. Fished around Gregory, Last Chance, and entrance to Rock Creek on way up lake. One in 5 infected with virus in south end. No boils and very few shad. There were bait balls detected deeper. No sign of algae in any area we traveled. We were mostly near the main channel. Water temp 75 to 80 on all days. No sign of virus in fish after mm46. Caught many fish, mostly small, with a few large ones mixed in. Top water and ned rigs did the damage. Slipped into Forbidding Canyon and caught fish. No decent camp sites in Oak Canyon with some whales lurking. Jack's Arch very low water and poor fishing. Entrance to the San Juan was good but mostly small fish. Reflection Canyon very low water but fishing was decent in spots. Stripers we caught were paper thin and the small ones were getting thin also. My theory and based on no scientific data is the quagga mussels are taking the plankton out of the water for the small stripers. Caught some very nice catfish. There were 3 of us and we caught over a 100 fish per day for 3 days. Camped across form Gregory Butte on last night and woke up to Big horn sheep above camp. I had never seen them this far down in the southern lake. We did get some rain on Friday along with a good amount of lightning. The Poker run was cool. Nice weather temps for shore camping. Will try to post some pics later.
