Went out again today after nadda last Sat. This time just stayed local and skipped the two no-wake zones to Navajo. Didn’t really find any biters either bass or stripers until almost noon and then picked up a double, trolling toward Lone Rock. Lost my new 6th sense crank due to some line fray. Found a point holding massive shad schools so anchored up there with spot lock and dropped chovies. Last time I went out on the kayak a month ago there were shad there and they stuck around. The bite was wide open for an hour or so. After keeping 15 I didn’t feel like cleaning anymore skinnies so did a little bassin’ for a few fish and went home. Had a 4 pound bucket mouth on but farmed it with the net. Bass were hitting cranks at high speed in the afternoon. Sounds like a fall bite. Water held at 63.

BTW I’m opening a tackle shop in Hurricane this month. If there are hard-to-find stuff you all want to see there let me know. Have Slab Spoons, 6th Sense spoons, Walleye Assassins, and about dozen different shad looking cranks. I’m setting up a dedicated striper wall. Also if you know anyone local who wants to work in the shop let me know. Figuring there has to be some enthusiastic kid who’d geek out working in the shop.

It’s called Dann’s Fishing and it’s at 545 W State St unit 4. Right behind Rooster Run cafe. Already have a temporary sign up as we fill the shop with inventory.

Thanks for the report. Sounds like it's picking up. Good luck with the shop. Try to figure out an economical way to ship Powell product to those of us that dont live nearby.
