We fished the very upper part of the San Juan Wednesday and part of Thursday. We pulled up stakes due to windy weather!
We left Bullfrog with water temps at 57 degrees. By the end of Wednesday in San Juan it was 67.8. The bass liked this temperature. We caught lots of healthy sm and lmb, a few stripers, and also crappie. Most bites were on the trust worthy jig. White was surprisingly good. I was wondering if this is due to cleaner/clearer water clarity due to the quaggas?
Wed. night it began to blow. We woke up to 57 degree water. We fished the morning till about 11:00 when we decided to call our trip done two days early due to weather. I assume the water temps are cooler now and will take a few more days to warm up again.
Looking forward to going back in May!

what we're you doing to catch the crappie? Was that on a grub as well? Beautiful LMB! Were you in Paiute area and did you see many others? Will be going up there in about a month. Sucks you had to come back early

Yes we caught the crappie on grubs as well. 1/4 ounce ball head. We did fish in Paiute and the coves in the bay area. We saw two boats on Wednesday as they were leaving. Only saw one other boat on Thursday between the mouth of San Juan and the mouth of the Escalante. I love Powell this time of year when there are so few boats on the lake.
All the fish we caught were healthy except one skinny striper who was still in a cove looking for last years shad.
