I brought the Reay boys of Gilbert AZ up to Powell today for the first trip of the season, although I thought we were several weeks early with the prolonged cold temps. We started fishing in the Dove Canyon area at 12:30 and headed in before 6:30. It was a low water level like I don't ever remember seeing before but I don't remember all that much these days. Caught 59 fish with the biggest a LM about 3.5 lbs but quite a few nice LM fattened up and getting ready to spawn. About 25 LM, a dozen stripers, and the rest SM. They were in '5-'15 with all the stripers in shallow, the LM not far behind. A couple of crank and chatter bait fish and all the rest on TRD. Warmest water we found was 60 degrees, clear in the back of a cove in 4’ of water. We’ll give it a go again tomorrow for most of the day before heading home late afternoon.
