We got up to Red at about 2:00 on Saturday. There was an army of greebs out in front of Dungees islands so we pulled in and looked around for striper schools. Managed to spoon up a few, and went to look for a camp. Ran into seekandfillet in blue notch and talked with them for a minute. Sounded like they were catching lots of fish. We camped in Red that night.
Started out Sunday at Dungees islands did good speed reeling cast masters till around noon. Got a couple gallon ziplocks of striper fillets mostly 12-16” but a couple larger fish that were healthy. Tried to fillet some of the larger skinny fish, their muscle was mushy and didn’t really cut away from the fish like the healthy ones. Drove up to the horn for cell service and checked in with family. Camped in blue notch that evening.
Fished around the bay in blue notch Monday morning caught another good batch of small striper. After getting them cleaned up we went out to Dungees islands and trolled bottom bouncers and worm harnesses for walleye. Didn’t get any walleyes but did troll up a monster catfish. I don’t have a scale on the boat but we guessed it at around 12 pounds Over 30”. Trolled bouncers the rest of the day with out much success, a few small cats and 13” stripers.
Beautiful weekend with almost no wind. Nights were chilly but the mornings warmed up fast. Water temp was between 61 -63 degrees all weekend.
