My grandson and I went to Lake Powell Tuesday. We fished that afternoon at buoy 3 for 1 1/2 hour and caught about 30 stripers. Mostly skinny ones. We did keep 7.

Next morning we had to get a tire repaired so we got on the water a bit later than we’d hoped. We caught 1 striper where we fished the day before but the waves from boat traffic was so bad we had to leave and go up lake to Navajo canyon. We threw Ned rigs along rocky shores for small mouth bass and caught too many to count along with a few very skinny stripers. No smallies of any size but what a hoot!! Didn’t keep any stripers. Thursday morning we got out early before boat traffic and was catching a striper every 2-3 minutes at buoy #3. We kept 15 and killed the rest because they were so skinny. Fish were still biting but we went up to Navajo canyon for small mouth. Had a little trolling motor trouble and wind was supposed to come up so we headed back to camp. Back by 12:30.

Decontaminated the boat, took showers and chilled the afternoon away in the air conditioned camper with 96 degrees outside. Had fried striper and french fries for dinner.

Came home Friday morning early. Man it was busy when we were there but the traffic from Kanab going to Page was non-stop, most with boats.

Was a fun and productive trip. I took this grandson to Bullfrog 20 years ago for his first lake Powell trip along with my dad (his great grandpa). This one will also be a memorable one spent with him.
