I pulled the trigger on one of these this afternoon! Got to get the new boat rigged for next season. I researched a lot...but the Christmas tree closed the deal! :sneaky:
It is backordered, hope it comes through, so I will not have to spring for a new G3 version...
I pulled the trigger on one of these too but they cancelled my order recently, FYI you may want to check the status on yours. They tell me there are no more available and I won't be getting one. Darn it

Dworwood,
Yes, sadly, same experience here. it was shown as backordered until recently then changed to "cancelled". No communication otherwise. I am bummed, the Gen 3 equivalent is about $2,000. I am looking at my options...I have found some closeouts on the Helix 7 G2 and G2N pretty appealing, but was really wanting a 10" unit. The Helix 9 uses the same screen resolution (pixels) as the Helix 7, while the 10 represents a substantial improvement, with higher resolution in addition to screen size. That is a big driver for me in the desire for a 10 versus the 7, or 9. However, I have a Helix 7 G1 SI side imaging on our bass boat and have been happy with it, so may end up with a Gen 2 Helix 7, they are pretty inexpensive right now.
I am just finishing Wayne's Lake Powell book that I got for Christmas and the section on Spooning Stripers has me fired up about getting a better unit! :)

Really enjoyable book, Thank you Wayne!!!

Dworwood, my wife's family has a lot of Nephi connections, hope we cross wakes one day, we enjoy your posts!

I have the helix 7 as well but have not had it very long, still learning how to use all the features and screens. I am going to get the 9 for several reasons but the three presets appeal to me. I read Wayne’s book through the holidays and I agree, I can’t wait to get back down there. My wife says I am like a 16 year old again! I have been in Nephi for 63 years so I should know some of her relatives, it’s a small world in reality! I too hope to tie up with you and get to know a little more about you both! Good luck on the new finder and we will see you on the water! Dave

@Dworwood if you are replacing your helix 7 sometime soon, and you have no plans for it, I would gladly buy it off of you! I have the Helix 5, and have determined they share the same plug for power, and transducer, as long as it isn't the side imaging model. Thanks

Thanks for the book review. I appreciate it. You never know when we might meet. I try to visit with 4 or 5 boaters each time I am out on the lake. One of these times it may be you!

It is not the SI model, that is one of the reasons I want to trade up. I haven't decided if I am keeping it or selling it, I haven't used it enough to even learn it very well yet. I will let you know first if I decide I don't need two. Dave

I dropped into our local Cabelas this weekend to see what other options they had for Humminbird Fishfinders, since they canceled the one I had on backorder. They had the Helix 10 Mega SI G2N (as per the original post) on display at a price higher than the closeout special that was recently listed. When I asked about it, they looked around for quite a while before letting me know that they could not find the box and parts for it...but did find one last one in an unopened box. After a discussion with some very nice folks in Customer Service, they were receptive to selling this last one at the recently advertised deal... I don't think I was that "good of a boy" this year, but I promise to work on it! :)

Congratulations, that was a heck of a deal we missed out on. Glad you made it happen after all. I know you will enjoy it and I hope it lets you see and catch more fish.

Good for you, BarzArz! One of my goals this year is to better understand how to use my electronics. There is a ton of info out there on Humminbirds. I am using this down time in the snow to research instead of doing it on the lake this spring. One of the best sites for any kind of information is Walleye Central. I initially started on that site last year when looking for a boat. Now I am using it to try to understand walleye basics better and to find information pertinent to me so I can be more successful on Powell. This morning I was looking at the “humminbird videos” thread. There are links there for a better understanding of using your humminbird electronics. A lot of the folks posting are from the land of the Lund and MinnKota and it has been helpful for me. LP is my “go to” lake and I check WW everyday, very grateful to all wordings for advice and the sharing information on all matters. Dave

@Dworwood did you decide if you were going to trade up? I'm getting Spring Fever pretty bad, looking at some Helix 7's on ebay 🆒
