Went fishing with my daughter at the hidden cove along the east wall of Padre Bay. Fished from 10:30am to 4:30pm. Water temp was 68*F. The mid day bite was steady. Trolling slowly close to the verticle wall in the shade was the most productive. Used a 1/8 ounce jig with a 3" single tail grub with a night crawler attached. Overall we caught 2 green sunfish, 1 channel cat, and about 18 smallmouth. Kept 9 smallmouth and 1 channel cat.
Lake Powell is like a wet market without a meat shortage! The fish we kept in one afternoon was enough to feed a family of 4. We ate the fish the same day we caught them. Deep fried in a beer batter with deep fried zuchinni. If you are a local and buy your fish at a grocery store, you are making bad decisions in life. The fishing this year is phenomenal so get out there and make some lifetime memories.
