Nothing better than a day on the lake

The weather report indicated Tuesday would be the best day this week for a fishing trip so we headed to Navajo Canyon. The weather report was spot-on with very little wind and nice temps. Fishing however was only so-so. We caught 7 stripers trolling jointed rapalas and spro jigs. The fish were all caught in 40-60 fow on a 300 yard stretch just down lake from the big sand beach/dune. We spent a quite a bit of time spooning the same water with zero success.

Interesting. We were there last year on 3/18 - 3/20 and we found stripers between 30-40 feet schooled up, down to 60ft. We used Anchovies and caught one after another. The water temperature was the same 47-53, what has changed this year? Water level, shad? Wouldn’t think it would change the fishing that much. We’re fishing the south end next weekend, hope it picks up. 38D643CE-42FE-46EB-BCB9-C0872C19FD02.jpeg

Those smiling faces on the kids (not the stripies) make it all worthwhile!! We never forget this...even after 60+ years......

Methinks there's a special place in heaven for Dad's who take their kids fishing.......
