My last trip tp LP was just before Halloween and there were lots of rigs in all the parking areas near Exec services ramp. This last trip there were five near the top of the ramp. Got to the lake about 9 am Friday. Headed north and fished some of the spots I always wanted to try but usually in too big a hurry to throttle down and stop.
Fishing was slower Friday after the storms but picked up as the weather cleared over the weekend Water was right around 61. Spent the first night near Popcorn. Water vis was pretty good that end of the bay. Fished from Red to Scorrup Saturday and Sunday. Water still around 60 and fairly clear in Red but degraded in visibility the closer to the Horn. I went up to the horn to make a call and could see the big wood raft/trash just around the horn to the north. The water was so silty it blew out the down imaging on the Humminbirds. Most of the screen was just yellow. You could see good imaging on sonar but DI was washed out. Water was around 59. No luck for me in that kind of water. I spent most of my time fishing the structure that was visible and could assume the underwater layout but also used the Lakemaster map and spot locked on submerged islands and reefs. The stripers were cruising and were there, gone, and then back again. The smaller ones were in good shape but as stated before, the bigger ones had a tough summer. Also caught some walleyes, smallies, and cats. I was using plastics and casting instead of trolling. 1/2 ounce and 3/4 ounce jig heads allowed me to get down when fishing submerged structure and also allowed me to practice knot tying. By Sunday noon I was the last boat north and didn’t see another boat until Monday by Tapestry. You could see bait balls in water that was deeper and they were staged around 35 feet. However, when you got over shallower water (30 feet and less) there were no bait showing up on the graphs. Best tactics were stopping off of shelves, casting to 20-30 feet of water and letting it drop off the edges. On Saturday night I was camped around Castle Butte and woke up around 2:30 and noticed a rotating white light reflecting off the clouds and somewhere south and a little east of me. I can’t imagine where it was coming from unless Blanding has an airport. But, Blanding had to be 40 or 50 miles at least by the crow flies. I didn’t see the light Sunday night. The recent rains have started to green things up on the desert. Dry cows on the winter range south oh Hanksville now. The boat inspection at Loma is gone for the winter. Tight lines

I see that light pretty much nightly, this fall, when I'm down there. (if I'm looking) From my vantage point in Tic it looks like its somewhere over there by Knowles or Smithfork on the lake or at least in the canyon.
I'd like to know what it is if anyone does?? I've asked a few "ranger rick's", nobody knows so far...

Im sure you’re seeing the beacon for Cal Black airstrip. It’s about 12 miles east of Halls.
