I don’t know if this is a potential reason for not opening up the lake to the tax paying citizens wanting to utilize Lake Powell safely but does anybody think that the higher ups are resistent to open up the entire lake because the rangers/quagga inspectors and other ancillary staff don’t have the proper ppe to deal with the public.? I don’t want to beat a dead horse but wear the proper ppe in the form of a N95 mask, gloves and goggles and wash your hands and we should be able to Safely enjoy Lake Powell. When I work on shift at the hospital a N95 mask, eye protection and gloves are an essential part of safely serving the public, why shouldn’t our Lake Powell essential workers do the same?💁🧐

DOES ANYONE KNOW??? Are there signs posted notifying no launching Monday thru Thursday? Are there signs posted no camping on the lake? What would happen if one left a vehicle there for 3 nights? A ticket or would they tow it? Or is there someone there to turn a potential launch violator around? Store the boat there but wanted to travel from Tucson May 4-7.

You don't need an N95 mask for that task, unless you are around fine aerosols, any bandana, home made mask, or level 1-3 will do. Wear some eye protection and wash your hands. The N95s are needed for the people working directly on a covid positive patient or your dentist who creates aerosols while fixing your teeth(no matter how hard we can't find any N95s, not sure where all the 95 masks are going)

They have done an extensive study that now shows that the virus dies in sunlight and temperatures of 75 degrees in < 1.5 minutes. There is no reason whatsoever for inspectors with masks and gloves not to get back to work inspecting boats at Lake Powell. The PPE is available, the testing is available. In fact, I will personally arrange to have SQL test the boat ramp staff by PCR and the antibody test to allow them to return to work, and now we know that the virus dies in sunlight and heat, which Lake Powell has plenty of to spare. Arizona relaxed their testing access from prioritized groups today, which will allow the general public to start getting tested on a broad scale next week. Open Lake Powell to houseboats and fishing. Be safe and tight lines :).

Good information indeed. The only reason for a simple mask or a bandana is to prevent contagion from a happy excited boater sneezing , coughing or just spitting a couple drops on your face while talking to them LOL.....Truly the best place to be is in the outdoors, or the lake fishing.

While I have to agree to an extent, I still where a mask at work during business hours not so much for myself cause if that bug gets on me I going to kick its @#s.I do however wear it for my dad who is home with me and for the other seniors that I come in contact with all day every day in the market. Yes it sucks and I can't breathe and I would rather be fishing, but it is the world we're living in and I don't want to be that guy who spreads it to anyone else. I do hope they open the lake next week and would be happy to wear a mask while on shore if that made the difference. I have my doubts though. 🤬🥺😷

You nailed it David! They have no excuse left for not at least opening up the boat ramps and staffing the inspection station with social distancing in place which will be very easy the way they already had it set up to get into the inspection station. I just really hope that they do not use opening up all the ancillary services as part of the equation. The businesses opening up should have no impact on whether the public has access to the water.

Thank you David Dexter. There is the solution. So let's get it open.
