I stayed on my old houseboat for a few days last week. I left yesterday as the weather was moving in.
A porter took me up to my truck in the trailer parking lot, I unloaded a few things into my truck including a buddies (jeffinflag) trolling motor that had an issue. A very expensive trolling motor. A MK Ulterra. I'm taking it to an authorized MinnKota dealer in Mesa near where I live for him.
Well, I had to go back to the houseboat to apply the registration numbers to the boat. As I was loading the cart at the office, Amy in the office mentioned that the NPS is coming in this week to check the numbers, registration stickers and lake pass stickers on the boats in the marina. Big fines if you don't have them is what she told me.
So I took my stuff to my truck but the driver distracted me. He wanted to see my new smart guitar. Very cool electric guitar in the Les Paul variety but that's a different discussion.
So I showed him the guitar, put it back in the gig bag and had him take me back to i-dock.
I'm just clarifying here. I had my tools, thousands of dollars of flooring tools, Jeff's Ulterra trolling motor, my guitar, all my luggage, probably 75 lbs. of fillets, a 14 gallon self pumping fuel tank, a 5 gallon race tank, a box of 8 rod holders, a fillet table and mount, electric jack, a 1000 ft. lb. Electric torque wrench and all kinds of other things in the truck. Again, I'm just clarifying what an idiot I am at times.
This is how I found my truck 4 hours later on a busy Sunday afternoon when I returned. How I could ride off with the cart driver and not notice is beyond my comprehension but there it is.
Not a thing was touched.
I'm not typically this lucky.
Thank you God for favoring the foolish.
