Last Chance Stripers

Just wanted to give everybody an update on the stripers we found up in Last Chance Bay. Went up on Tuesday December 16th 2025 and got into several large schools. First ones about 95 ft caught about 25. The next school about an hour later we finally found them again at 60 ft and then it was on for a long long time. Caught over 70 about 15 were skinny, the rest were nice and fat what a great day on this amazing place we call Lake Powell.

That was allot of work.. I've done so many now that it goes by pretty quick. I haven't switched over to electric yet, it may be time to..
Electric is the way to go, it will cut your fillet time in half or by 3/4. Get an extra battery and rotate them in when one goes dead. Plus it saves you all the re-sharpening that is needed after going through all those stripers.

I switched from battery to 12v (with a 110v adapter, if needed) several years ago. Never looked back, electric is the way to go. Once you get the hang of not sawing the filet it's about a fish a minute to a minute 30sec. Neat, clean, a real time and back saver. Chuck

I second all the electric cordless guys. My favorite is the Rapala. Years ago I thought I was pretty fast with a knife, until i got next to some of the old time striper crew at the cleaning station at Wahweap. They were doing about 3 or 4 to my one. I finally got the cordless Rapala and a wash down hose and filet board on my little boat and never looked back. Tight lines!
