20251024_091411.jpg20251023_095210.jpg20251023_103639.jpgWe camped in Last Chance Bay and fished from Wednesday to Friday. The fishing was really slow. 3-4 SMB on Wednesday afternoon-evening, 2-3 SMB on Thursday, before a storm blew in and had us taking cover in the tent for a few hours. Thursday evening caught 2-3 more bass. Friday was a little better, with 10-12 fish in the boat, including two stripers caught quickly at about 20' in 100' of water. The stripers were jumping and feeding off the surface all around us in the back of the coves, almost all the time we were there, but we couldn't get them to take anything. The fish were all small but healthy. We fished the same places in the spring and caught what felt like 100 fish a day. Is this normal for spring vs. fall? The water temps were in the low 70s. I wonder if the fish are deeper and haven't started feeding heavily yet because the water temp hasn't dropped to the low 60s? The water also seemed cloudier than usual, and there were large areas of what looked almost like sawdust in the water. I'm guessing they were from the storms that hit the previous week.

This was my 4th trip to Powell and my first time with my son. He loved it, and I loved getting to spend the time with him.

I'm heading back on Friday to fish with some friends and will be staying in town. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to target SMB/LMB bass closer to Stateline? Same thing for Stripers. I'm guessing we could go as far as Padre Bay, but I don't want to push it too much farther on a day trip.

As always, thanks for sharing your knowledge and insights!
