Lake Powell’s First Documentary | Lake Powell… "Jewel of the Colorado"

Rainbowbridge

Keeper of San Juan Secrets
Fun 1965 B.O.R. documentary.....perfect Holiday entertainment for the family......AND....It's the only way to 'lure' mcpltret away from waiting/lurking under the mistletoe.......for hours.....😸

"This film was made as a direct response to the Sierra Club’s book "The Place No One Knew" by Eliot Porter. The book was about the drowning of Glen Canyon and its side canyons. Floyd Dominy, the former commissioner of the Bureau of Reclamation from May 1, 1959, to December 1, 1969, published a 30 page promotional brochure and this film celebrating the reservoir that replaced Glen Canyon. "

Rather than watch meaningless NFL and NBA games, we watched this video and Exploring Lake Powell with Stan Jones (AGAIN!). Great fun. Teenage grandkids were fascinated and pressuring my son to take them to Powell again soon. Not easy to do when they now live in TN rather than SoCal. They were really disappointed when I told them it’s miles of hiking rather than boating to La Gorche Arch.

Meaningless? Really? I have to have SOMETHING to watch between Powell dreams!

I’m a football and bball fan, just being a wise guy about the NFL games had only one playoff implication (I think) and a mid season NBA may ultimately be important but just 1 of 82, so old LP videos are much more interesting. Christmas is a good time for nostalgia.
