So here's a question I'd love thoughts on. Although the lake will open in May, Colo is still under Safer at Home until May 26th. Safer at home says you "should" only travel or recreate within 10 miles of home, and travel should only be for essential needs.

What response will we get towing a boat down I-70? We had hoped to combine maintenance weekend with a fishing trip in May. Somehow I don't think I'd be able to sell the idea we're traveling for "essential" reasons with 2 Trucks each towing a fishing boat. "yes officer, I am aware of the Covid-19 order, but this trip is essential to my mental health?"

And assuming I'm not in violation under that State Covid-19 restrictions, do I have to worry about the restrictions for local cities and counties such as Eagle county. And if I am in violation, what's the potential penalty? One of the guys going with us wondered if the could/would impound the boats

Please tell me I don't have to wait until June......

I am from Silverthorne Co and was thinking the same thing. Summit County won't ease the restrictions until the end of May. So it looks like June for me.

I dont think you will have a problem Powell Bride. I live on the front range and north of denver. I was out today on I25 and the amount of boats and RVs on the freeways was amazing. You would not believe that there was a restriction going on. I will be towing a boat to Powell on the 20th and not worrying about it.

Coming through Mesa County you definitely shouldn’t have a problem ! I see boats, campers, RVs and jeeps on the roads all the time. We are set to launch from dry storage on afternoon of May 10 to put our boat in our (currently empty) Bullfrog slip. If someone needs a slip to “rest” a boat for a night (or 2) - as long as you are out by Sunday afternoon. . . . we wouldn’t be kicking you out.

I had to make a service call to Hite yesterday and it's unbelievable how many campers, RV's, tents, Sprinters, etc. are out in this neck of the desert and a lot (most) of the license plates are from other states including Colorado. If there is a stay at home order in many states, there are a lot of people not following it and making it out here to self distance.

Had a customer the other day that was pulling his boat behind his motorhome. I informed him that the lake was still closed on the Northern end. His plan was to go camping outside the park boundaries until the 8th, go "day tripping" until the 15th and then ASAP, get on the houseboat and "disappear" for a few weeks. Genius!!!

Point being, with all the traffic we are seeing down here in Hanksville, It doesn't look like any enforcement is being done about the traveling. It hasn't been normal spring traveler numbers, but it's still more than what I expected.

We went down Thursday to work on the Hooligan Too. Two trucks full of motors and covers. One 5th wheel rig and a motor home. Saw more cops in Hanksville than anywhere. They are launching us Monday.

Hi Steve,
Tell Ralph hello. Really hope you guys have a great time. The Cops you saw Thursday moving around Hanksville we’re doing a Search and rescue situation.
Happy Fishing!!!

The Colorado safer at home order uses the language encouraged to recreate within 10 miles of home. That doesn't sound mandatory to me. It also uses the language encourages those over 65 to stay at home. We're leaving from Durango early the 22nd for Halls.
Me too ! Leaving from Hesperus ! I have been going to Navajo and no problems at all passing law vehicles...

Nevada is also stay at home. While in a store I saw two sheriffs, man and woman. Told them I had a trip tp Powell before the order is lifted, what should I do? The woman said I should stay home, the man said I should go on the trip. Says a lot to me.. Of course I'm going.

Powell Bride -- Was at the lake yesterday -- sort of -- made it to Off Shore to work on the houseboat for the day -- There were plenty of RV's, ATV's and few Boats being trailered to the area with CO plates (were from Grand Junction) - I wouldn't think twice about coming when your scheduled

FYI- If you have been going to LP for a while you'll remember Blonde's in Hanksville -- than Stan's came along with a better "mousetrap"-- It looks like they are remodeling the building -- I only glanced at the sign but it appears to say something about rooms ??

In any case have a great time later this month !
