KSL: Will winter snowpack be enough to replenish Lake Powell?

Interesting how when people looked back at the last 20 years, it is pretty clear Powell has not recovered from actual drought (2000-2005) because of the releases to Mead. There have been some really high water years since then, but their effects are short lived. The math is pretty clear, Mead has been receiving more than is actually called for in the compact (7.5 million acre feet). It would take a bunch of super wet years in a row. Until the lower states are forced to stop using more water than allowed in the compact (which everyone agrees is optimistic anyways) Powell will have hard time.....

Funny, in Papa Jack's High Water Contest, as of 3/31 with on a day to go to guess, only 2 guesses out of 123 are lower than what the 'experts' in the article believe the lake's high water level will reach this year! Most are MUCH higher guesses!! I like our optimism!!

We'll see who the real experts are soon.

The study they reference was done some time in March, the article was published at the end of march. Depending on when in March the study was done, we have had possibly a month of additional moisture and more still coming. I am betting they are low!! Bring it on

My wife was at Fairview, Utah for her dad's Birthday yesterday. They had snow on the roadside in most of the upper country. She took this coming over skyline drive area at the top of Huntington Canyon yesterday, Sunday.
Been a while since we have seen it like this ...
