Scheduled for shut down on December 22. Not hard for me to remember that date, my birthday. I doubt the booming tourist industry can compensate for the hit to the Page economy.

Agree, and what happens when the inevitable cyclical economic downturn hits. Obviously, there are lots of smart people though who are building hundreds and hundreds of new hotel rooms in Page, so they must feel pretty confident in its future.

(and great photo BTW!!)

And it's pretty obvious that the Page hotel industry is heavily dependent on the Asian economy. Those tour buses are not full of Americans.

Yep, and those same far eastern tourists are the ones that virtually disappeared from Page during the last economic downturn. Up until about 2008, these tourist groups were plentiful, just as they are today. Then the tourist spout just shut down, seemed like instantly. And very noticeably!

Enough so that I remember when I saw one of the first far eastern tour group buses back in Page a couple of years ago and did a double-take. And it's only increased since then.

It is great to share Lake Powell with the rest of the world! Let's hope it continues for the residents of Page's sake.

The city stands to lose about $50M per year IIRC.
Lots of new hotels but where are they all going to eat?
Why doesn't Golden Corral open a unit here? They'd be full 24/7.
Not the best food but good enough and a fast pass through of customers with a low head count to operate.
Forgot to add- Ansel Adams student of B&W photography?
