I've been thinking of buying a hook remover, I've always just had a pair of needle nose. what I've seen it does seem pretty slick but I figured I'd see what the experts think of them or if anyone has one, what's the reviews?

They work great. Just pull the lever out far enough to get it over the hook, let it go and give a twist of the wrist and 90% of the time the hook pops right out. It's a little harder if the have swallowed it to the guts. First used them in Florida. Those salt water critters have some teeth usually, can't lip most of them like you do a bass.

see I thought that they are better used for gut hooks kinda why I was thinking about them.. how are they with big off set hooks and things like that?

We use one for the silver salmon at Ketchikan. works better than needle nose pliers. The salmon can make your hands pretty sore after a week of fishing. We dump them out or kick them out of the net as fast as We can so they don't tangle up so bad. Then use one of those tools to get the hooks out. With the needle nose its harder to not get your line too. I don't know why I don't use one in my boat here at home. I just leave the other one up there. I need to get one or two for here. They're worth trying.
