My son in law, Bryan Harrison and I, got to HIte after noon, on Friday the 1 st, and went to North wash, and started catching Striper, We were throwing Walleye assassins, on a 3/8 oz lead head. And by 4:30, had 104. We done the same thing for the next two day's, and caught 85 Saturday, and I gave Sunday's catch away, so not sure, but it was about the same. So we done over 250 Striper, for the trip.
Bryan caught a 15 inch Crapp[ie, that was 2.2 lbs, on the 4 inch Walleye assassin. I did spend the last 45 minute's throwing a Bushwhacker, and caught 5 nice Largemouth's. They are some fat and fighting fish.
Have a good one.

I went back the 6th and 7th, by myself, caught 42 Striper, and a limit of nice Crappie, and on the 7th, it was slow to start, but ended up catching 40 more Striper, 2 Crappie, and 6 nice Walleye, for 100 fish trip. Not as fast as when my son in law was there, but still really good fishing, and they are fat, and fighter's. I weighed a 24'' that was 4.8 lbs, and several 3.3 to 4 lbs Striper's.
I started banging the bottom with the assassin's, and finally caught some nice Walleye's on them, and four of the CRappie. were 2.0 lbs, 14 1/2 inch, was 2.0.
Dworwood, 50 is certainly not a shame, as healthy as these are.

PFD, Salt and pepper, Walleye assassin, on a 3/8 oz yellow chartreuse lead head.

Wayne, I launched at HIte, but it was getting scary, but well worth it. When I went by myself, I had to get in to the water, to get it loaded.

I was kayak fishing at Farley’s last weekend and managed a dozen stripers while searching for crappie! Never did find the crappie. Just curious where North Wash is located in relation to Hite. Obviously I’m limited in how far I can travel in a kayak. TIA!

North wash is straight across from the Hite launch.
It was its own little lake until the water came back up enough to cover the gravel bar that the river has deposited across its mouth

A walleye assassin, is a swimbait, with a thin body. Rich Sutterfield gave me a pack year's ago, and up until this past trip, I had only caught one Walleye in all the year's throwing them. I caught 6 in the last few hour's in North wash, after I started banging the bottom with them, instead of using it as a swim bait. They are 4'', and when you catch a Crappie on them, it's usually a big one. I think there is a picture of one, on the bait page.
All fish were caught in 18 ft to 3 ft of water, mostly around 12.

I stopped and looked at the river, where they take the raft's out, and there were no wind, and the river is moving slow. Wander if they have that info somewhere. I would think they do, to me it looked 2 to 4 mph, but I really have no clue.

How far would you guess is the distance from the primitive boat ramp across to North Wash? Is there a sand bar prohibiting me from rowing straight across the channel? Assuming there is a slight current and possibly some wind, I am trying to figure out how difficult it would be to row my raft across. I use this raft extensively on small reservoirs and able to withstand wind up to about 10 MPH just fine.

put in north of the boat ramp so the current swings you down to North Wash. On the return, just aim for the primitive ramp.

If nothing else, tell us how the fishing at Trachyte turns out! :)

You cant go strait across, because of silt bar's and brush in Hite. But with a raft, I would put in at the raft retrieve, and go that way, if you can paddle, or what ever you use, can get back up river. There's not a lot of current, you would just have to judge it your self.
Good luck.

I think I've heard of people driving down North Wash to the water. There's a couple points off the asphalt where dirt tracks take off in the direction of the wash. As you're driving on the asphalt east bound headed to Hite, North Wash is on your right and you parallel it for a ways. I'm not authorizing you to do this and don't tell anyone I told you about it! :)

You can no longer launch at hite, I was there on the 9th and 10th and its closed nps barricaded the road off, I was told because it was to dangerous to luanch. I

Hey Kevin this is Lou. Thanks for all the help last week. It was great meeting you and getting valuable info/intel. You should be getting a treat from the other Kevin dropped of at your house. Thanks again.
