I still believe there are significant effects from deep water wells that cause less runoff into rivers & lakes than acknowledged or addressed by the "experts." Most attribute reduced runoff to a warmer climate and dry surface soil, but if the ground is dried out, way down deep, it's going to suck up more water. See the following.
