Good Hope Mud line Question

All the bouy’s are lit now, no way I’m wasting prime fishing time before dusk driving back...

Wait, What? Preston, are you saying that someone has been working on the channel markers? They're lighted? How far up? Did they pull the ones off the shoreline and place them where they go?

Sm weren't for us but I believe the wind played a major roll in that. We did get into some striper sat eve and did pretty good once we coaxed them into feeding.View attachment 2032

When I see stripers stacked like that, I break out the fly rod! When they are in that 15-30 foot range in the spring, you can literally get bit on every cast. I believe that a sinking line and Clouser Minnow or similar baitfish pattern easily outfishes conventional gear in this situation. And it is way more fun!

I was north as far as two mile a week ago today. Water seemed to change from stained to brown somewhere around the horn. Four mile was stained but really good. Two mile was brown and slow. Keep in mind that was a week ago and there has been some major wind and much cooler temps since then. Hope that helps. Jeff

From the mouth of Stanton up to Scorup they are all lit. There is an adjacent one against the shore just outside of moki that is also lit so watch out for that one. And then a bouy (like 96?) just above the halls houseboat field isn’t lit but other than that they all are. It was nice.

Thanks for the report Jeff!

Interesting. In all my trips to Powell, I can only remember being checked one time, and it was by NPS. They must know I am the type of guy that always follows all the rules.

I too have never been checked. How far from Bullfrog were you?

The only time we were checked was probably about 30 years ago now. We were in Iceberg. My friend and I got up early and wanted to knee board. Dad was the only one up with us, so the 3 of us went double kneeboarding.

As soon as we got out on the main channel, we saw a boat way off in the distance. It was NPS. He let us off with a warning.
