Yeah, afternoon winds are expected but those numbers look higher than the usual afternoon winds. I'm sure it's due to the chance of storms rolling through. This is pretty typical wind at Powell in the summer. You can usually count on gusty canyon winds every afternoon.
It seems Dangling Rope marina was disabled by wind late May last year so I guess these numbers are fairly normal for this time of year. Does anyone actually sail on Lake Powell? I might give it a go one day.
Out of curiosity, besides the wind, is sailing a challenge with all the boats out on the lake? Do they know that a power boat yields to a sailboat? I have no knowledge/expertise in this area is the reason for the question.
I like those screenshots that show the wind so prominently. What app or website does that come from? We're headed to Powell next weekend, the South end, but the forecast isn't looking too good due to wind. Anyone else going next weekend rethinking their plans? Or am I crazy?

It is retractable 1.9 foot draft up almost 6 feet down.Yes, beautiful photo, thanks!
So, as a 'stink potter' (as my sailing buddies would call me).......pardon the naïveté .....
do you need a retractable keel to get that close to shore?....and on a boat that size.....how much of a keel do you need?
