Crazy good stripers

Once every few years you have a day where where you can't get your line down to depth without reeling in a striper. Today was the day. We were about to go in after lunch. It was well over 100 degrees and all of a sudden the screen lights up with with hundreds of lines. Fish after fish until we ran ran out of anchovies. And they weren't skinny. All nice fat ones up to 5# range. Just inside halls creek on left wall. One more hit in the morning before we bug out.

I found that spot from another friend of mine that is on this site that fished it with @KYKevin . That to me is what makes wayneswords.net the best. I read everything on here whether it is fishing or not and I have learned allot from it. I need to start getting back to the lake and start fishing because just like @Dungee said you dont see a boil from your living room. Also have to give a shout out to @Chovyboy , @Rush and @Dworwood and @last wild human my crew. I am bringing @Jebadiah with me this trip ,if I did not mention him here , I would be hearing about all the way to the lake. and my helper is @Obi-Juan there is that. And my best friend is @Ramon

Thats great! When they bite like that I just send the jig down bare, they still take it! Thay only happened twice at Powell and once for wipers at Yuba where they were taking a naked jig. Congrats! I cant wait to get back on Powell after the tourist pack it in, weather cools down and Kokanee closes.

I was down this past weekend , all of these spots where like fishing the Maytag Straits , did catch trolling by what used to be the Island .

Beware of the big Whale coming out of the water by the Buoy .

Was there yesterday. “Big Whale” if you’re referring to the flat-topped rock near Hall’s Creek buoy is about 6” down. Clear if you’re looking for it.

Went to the spot listed above - did not see any significant number stripers together. But was scouting, not really searching.

How deep did you fish? Is this typical? We caught 8 2 1/2 lbs in what I think is Stanton Creek about 30’ down in 42’ water.

Are we looking too shallow?

I trolled out from the Buoy to what was the Island in 40ft to 20ft and did pretty well , with a Lv500 lipless crankbait sometimes with a snap weight . The Whale was marked with a little raft and a piece of foam .
