Catfish Spawn Imminent

Catfish are close to spawning now with the water temperature rising into the 70s. The mature fish get more aggressive when preparing tp spawn. This black beauty grabbed a chartreuse grub near a rock pile while fishing for smallmouth bass. If you would like to fish for catfish they are most abundant toward the backs of the canyons in murky water. They also like sandy beaches where houseboats can park. You can share your table scraps from dinner to catch fish in the evening behind the boat.

We caught about a half dozen while bottom bouncing for walleye this past week. We didn't spend a ton of time bottom bouncing, but caught more catfish than walleye.
