Just a few more miles out of town there’s another amazing slot canyon called Canyon X.

We recommend it highly!

Are the buses lined up there too?😀
No buses... at least not yet. Once word get's out that may happen the next couple years because the tourist hoards that inundate Antelope are becoming untenable.

But overall Canyon X is a much more intimate experience than upper or lower Antelope Canyon.

And the Navajo man who runs the operation (Logan) is a highly educated very smart guy who is learning to navigate the landscape of business, tribal politics, and raising a family... all at the same time.

As the coal-fired generation plant is in it's final phases of closing down and the hundreds of workers are either left jobless or moved away, supporting the local Navajo businesses will become more and more important.

I heard about this place around 10 years ago. It looks promising. I will go there this year. Thanks for sharing your pictures.

Chris you really know how to enjoy a place. Aren't Slot Canyons amazing! There are more for you to see on the lake as well.
Thanks Wayne. Having fun seems to be my super power... unfortunately I haven't figured out a way to make a million dollars off that... yet!

That said, yes, we've seen several of the best slots Powell has to offer, including Cathedral in June 2017 when the water was so high you could navigate through those amazing canyons for miles on end... we went all the way to the back of it, let the boats bounce off each other (and the walls) and swam the remainder of the lake all the way to the back of the canyon and hiked up into the slot.

It was literally the most amazing experience I'd ever had in my life with this kind of environment... and what "hooked" us to Lake Powell for life!

The thing is, a lot of people come to the lake not realizing there are probably 10 to 15 other really amazing things like Canyon X less than an hours drive... all you have to do is get out and explore!

Hey, Thanks for all of the fantastic pictures. I have great memories of the lake and slot canyons myself. I see you served our country. Wanted to tell you thanks for your service. Hope that doesn't sound hollow. It certainly is not given that way. Appreciate your service to our country
