Arrived at Bullfrog Monday about 2 pm. Headed up to Moki and fished anchovies until 6. It was really slow we only boated around 12 or 14.
Tuesday morning we headed up to Good Hope. Really muddy, fished around the rest room for a couple of hours. Just too muddy, no luck. We went up Cedar and fished with Ned rigs and curly tail jigs, mostly watermelon color. We caught a few largemouth and smallmouth, but was pretty slow. Dark thunderheads started to show north and west so we headed back around 3 pm.
Wed. we looked at the weather and decided to stay close, went down to lake canyon, tried anchovies around the entrance with no luck, went to the mouth of Halls, but not where the other guys had all their success we were too far west, had no luck there either. It started to look pretty stormy so we went to Bullfrog Bay and tried trolling crank baits and then bait fished with anchovies still no luck.
THANK YOU! to the two guys in the older Star Craft boat. They gave us a minnow needle and some toothpicks. We then trolled anchovies on leaded line 4 & 1/2 colors and around 1.8 mph around the Dome Rock. It saved our trip. We caught 35 or 40 stripers trolling. It wasn't red hot but steady.
picked up after that and headed home. WE really had a great trip, always fun at Powell, We're still learning it and how to bass fish.
