when i have launched there i would typically launch at a 45 degree angle to the right which has more drop off.Looks to be a pretty shallow slope to have the whole truck in and wade to the boat. Good to know what to expect.
Every time I see someone out on that spur, I ask myself the same question. Why not use the north ramp?
The ramp is certainly better. The downside is it’s about a mile walk from the likely parking spot to the dock. Unless you drop your trailer and drive down to park closer with just the tow vehicle.Every time I see someone out on that spur, I ask myself the same question.
Our houseboat has been on a buoy for many years. We were in the Bouy field that was just adjacent to the main ramp but now that it's out at Halls in the main Channel we try to do our exchanges on Hobie Cat Beach. Where I was parked at Hobie Cat was a stones throw from the main ramp. Didn't want to have to go all the way around to the slip side. We're on a list for a slip, and when that happens yeah I'll be Executive ramp all the time I suppose. Why not use the north ramp?
That is because that is the wrong way to launch there. Basically they are set up to launch at straight up noon which has no slope. You need to angle that launch angle about 2:30 ish (almost 45 degrees) or so to the right of that angle (north) and there is a good slope and no need to wade out... Basically launching north vs them launching west.Looks to be a pretty shallow slope to have the whole truck in and wade to the boat. Good to know what to expect.
This checks out. This is how I did it and how most people are doing it.That is because that is the wrong way to launch there.
