Hello Everyone. Up until two years ago I had never owned a boat. Year before a friend took me to Powell and the next spring we had a boat. Huge hit with the family. We probably spend close to three weeks out at Bullfrog and wife and I stay in the Defiance House, which has been great. Sometimes the kids(older) camp with their friends and sometimes I get them hotel rooms. Until this week, I had never owned a camper. Friend decided he was going to make me a deal I could not refuse and he was right. I'll be keeping at the storage out in Ticaboo but I have NO idea where to take it. I'm not sure how it would be getting down to Stanton Creek. Is it better to get a camp sight with hookups at Bullfrog? Really, I'm just looking to find out what the options are. I have checked the Glen Canyon website but did not really find what I was looking for.

Much appreciated!

Depends if you trailer the boat every day or anchor on a spring line.
If you pull the boat you may as well stay in the campground with flush toilets
and amenities.

Thanks for the replies. We have historically launched every day. Sounds nice to be down by the water but not sure we can get a camper down there. We'll probably go down next week and check it out.

There are dirt roads leading down to different coves at Stanton Creek. It is rough going with a camper but doable. We have done it several times with our RV. The main road leading down is just off the left side once you pass through the Gate. Good luck and have fun!

I agree with the other comments here. I think it gets down to what your personal preferences are. My tribe would be at Stanton Creek almost any day over the campground. We like being by the water. The road is rough but passable. There are some nice places to bring the boat right up to where you are camped.

All good info and very much appreciated. I have learned much from this website over the years. Most importantly, I have learned lake/ramp/boat etiquette, of which I knew nothing. Being by the water just sounds really appealing. I was shopping for a camper that was much shorter but when my buddy heard what I was looking to buy, he made me an offer to sell me one that I could not refuse but it is 29'. Much larger than I wanted but we'll leave it down there with the boat. Would a quiet generator take care of the AC issue? Coming from 8800 feet in elevation, I do like my respite from the heat at night.

Unless there are many other campers running their generator at night, i wouldn’t do it. There really is no such thing as a “quiet generator” for a camper running air conditioning.

Inverter style generators are pretty dang quiet. I usually run mine during the day so that it keeps the temp down and then shut it off at night once the sun sets and the outside air cools. But I am never at the lake in July or August. My months are April, May and early June and then again in September, October and November. So I don't ever have to deal with extreme heat.

I have a pair of Yamaha 2000 inverter generators. Correct, when running in "eco mode", they are pretty quiet. But unless you have one of the big Honda 7000 IS's, they won't be running in Eco Mode when the air conditioning is running.

Thanks for all of the good information. Here I thought I would just need to buy a generator. Started to research and wound up down a rabbit warren. Killed more time than expected but know what the quiet options are, although sounds like all options would be considered impolite at night. We will cut our teeth at the campground with hookups and then venture down to explore options at Stanton Creek, which is our preferred destination.

You guys here are awesome.

Quiet time runs from 10 pm to 6 am. No matter how quiet the generator, I can't sleep with the droning of a generator in the background. The last time someone started one at 10pm, I got up and dressed and walked into their camp and told them I'd keep them company till it got turned off. We had a nice chat. They were from Salt Lake and had kids that couldn't sleep without the TV on, I weep for the next generation.

Love Stanton Creek for parking the camper and being close to the boat. I have a Honda EU 3000 quit series generator and most of the time running the A/C it will not be running on eco mode.
