I wish this report was better --- took off from Bullfrog at fist glimmer of light Friday morning -- Made the run up to Good Hope looking for boils all the way up. --- found 1 small one about 1 mile before the floating bathroom -- got 1 fish out of it --- did not see another until one in Red -- small, and down before we could get to it. Kept going up lake to MM 132 -- no additional boils seen --- came back and sat in the middle of Red for 1 hr looking for boils --- nothing. No problem -- will just go catch some smallmouth -- Threw grubs, neds, tubes, topwater, spinners..... pulled in 5 over next 2+ hours. Heat and lack of fish got to me-- headed back to Bullfrog. Saturday up a dawn again -- went south --- NOT 1 boil seen -- stopped looking a few miles from Escalante -- started fishing for smallies and had much better luck. Probably pulled in 50 in main channel -- most on ned rig with molted craw color. - deep water 25+ -- headed back to Bullfrog -- still no boils seen -- Boat traffic between halls and Bullfrog very heavy-- my 20' ranger took a beating--- - report from another angler said he found boils at mouth of San Juan--- Sunday headed back to Good Hope ( not enough time to go to San Juan) -- Did not see a single boil --- turned around in middle of good hope -- tried several spots for smallies --- no luck
Weather was HOT -- lots of boats around Halls and Bullfrog --- over all fun, but fishing was disappointing--- will try again in Sept when things have cooled down a little
