I made a last minute trip to LP with my sister and cousin and left the wife and kids at home. We were just there as a family in July and this trip was meant to be quick and nimble and cover a lot of miles on the lake. The main goal of this trip was the following - stop and see the current state of Dangling Rope and get a first time look at Cathedral in the Desert. We also made stops at Hole in the Rock, Reflection Canyon and the recently fallen arch in Rock Creek. We had to stop at RB because this was my cousins first trip to LP otherwise I would have skipped it. We also had planned to hike to La Gorce Arch but that ended up not happening as I wasn't comfortable with the boat back in the shallow water at the end of the canyon. Will save that for another time.

My vessel is a 25' Avalon Tritoon with a 300HP Mercury outboard. It has a 60 gallon fuel tank and I carried an additional 27.5 gallons of fuel in fuel jugs to make the round trip journey. In the end I figure we traveled approx. 130-140 miles in the two days. The boat has a top speed of 53mph but for this trip I kept the speed at just under 40mph to conserver fuel. Its funny, performance pontoons on Lake Powell are a bit of a unicorn. People aren't used to seeing a pontoon traveling at high speed. I get a lot of questions at stops and at the marina. Its kinda funny. But on the river near Lake Havasu where I primarily boat tritoons are all the rage and mine is considered middle of the road. On to the pics......
