45 to 60 miles up lake

Hello everyone. Gonna go around 45 60 miles up lake from Wahweap. What are the better campsites for Families of 8?
Is there better camping on north or south side canyons?
 
At the current lake level of 3600, you'll find (from south to north) several decent sites in Dungeon Canyon (mile 38), possibly a site or two in Wetherill Canyon (mile 40), decent beach options at the mouth of Cornerstone Canyon just south of Dangling Rope (mile 40), lots of sites in Oak Bay (mile 51), a few in the small inlets off the west side of the main channel near miles 52-53, one decent site in Hidden Passage Canyon (mile 56), a couple of spots in Reflection Canyon (mile 57), a few near the mouth of the San Juan River (mile 58), and a few small beaches off the main channel just north of the San Luan confluence (mile 59). Llewellyn Gulch (mile 63), which has a ton of good spots at higher lake levels, has essentially none at 3600, although a few might open up above 3610.

Once you get past Oak you should have a plan B if a spot is taken cause it can be slip pickens up there. Make sure it is early enough to get back to Oak if you don't find anything. That is a nasty part of the Lake to try to navigate in the dark. Going into Oak at night is dangerous. I would have someone who knows what they are looking for get in a power boat( assuming you have one) with a radio and start looking with it. That will save you a lot of time. This lake level is sketchy for beaches. JFR is right on. Sometimes a few can turn into none. Be safe.
